Allen (Leon) Meredith, 80, of Newport, Virginia passed away on July 11, 2021.  Leon was born April 17, 1941 to the late Albert and Iona Vaught Meredith of Newport, Virginia.

Leon joined the United States Army and completed his Basic Training for Infantry at Fort Hood in 1964 obtaining his expert Marksmanship badge.  Following his time there, he served through the Vietnam War with the 5 ^th Battalion, 6 ^th Infantry Regiment where he was injured and awarded a Purple Heart.

Leon was a collector of antique vehicles including a 1946 Willys Jeep and he recently finished restoring a 55 Chevy.  Even at eighty, he still enjoyed a good prank and time with his grandkids.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Pamela Stiff (Ronald), Joseph Meredith (LeAnn), and April Collini (Mike); his grandchildren: Gabrielle (Michael), Olivia (Josh), Toni, Katie, Sara, Dominic, Mitchell, Hayden, Isabel, Jonathan, and Jaiden; his great-grandchildren: William, Briar (expected soon); sisters: Bernice Frith and Gloria Davidson (Ronnie); and his loving pup, Charlie.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Anna Bell Williams, Cecil Meredith, Madeline Martin, Alberta Wright, Donnie Williams, Ellis Meredith, Shirley Perdue, Janet Marie Meredith, and Carolyn McMahon.

There will be a funeral service conducted Thursday, July 15, 2021 at 2:00 PM with Pastors Eddie Kendall and Stuart Davis officiating.  Funeral services will conclude at Birchlawn Burial Park.  Family will receive friends Wednesday, July 14, 2021 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.  A guestbook is available by visiting www.kendallfuneralhome.com .
