Alvin Carr Fletcher, 83, formerly of Narrows, died Monday, January 12, 2015, in Tampa, Florida after a long illness. Born in Narrows on April 24, 1931, he was a son of the late Franklin Madison and Maryann Hypes Fletcher. He was a retired twenty year veteran of the U S Army, Viet Nam Era, and was retired from the U S Postal Service.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 56 years, Laura Kay Walkup Fletcher; his son David Fletcher of Tampa, FL; his sister Betty Eaton of the Winston-Salem, NC area; several beloved in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at 11:00 am in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St, Pembroke with burial following with military honor guard at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin.
