Amy Sue Thornhill, 46, of Pearisburg, departed this life Wednesday morning, December 31, 2014 at Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg after a valiant battle with cancer. Born in Pearisburg on November 11, 1968, she was a daughter of Roy W. and Shirley Merrix Thornhill of Pearisburg. Amy was an avid Giles Spartan fan, a Virginia Tech fan and a Washington Red Skins fan. She was a 1987 graduate of Giles High School, and had worked at Giles Memorial Hospital and New River Valley Workshop. She enjoyed her family activities especially the shopping trips with her Mom, sister and neice.

Amy leaves to cherish her memory her parents; her sister and brother-in-law Cathy and Troy Reece of Newport; her niece Hannah Brook Reece and her nephew Blair Kendill Reece; and a host of friends, classmates, and fellow Spartan fans.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 3, 2015, at 2:00 pm, in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with burial following in the Anderson Cemetery on Guinea Mt.
