Anthony Keith Dowdy, 56 of Bland, VA departed this life July 2, 2023 in the care of Wytheville Community Hospital after a courageous and valiant battle with cancer.  Born in Giles County on March 22, 1967 he was a son of the late Jimmy and Betty Cumbee Dowdy.

Anthony was a manager for Super 8 Motels for many years.  He would often be seen reading his Bible or watching football.  He also enjoyed animals.

In addition to his parents, Anthony is preceded in death by his brother, David Dowdy.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Sydney Holmes Dowdy of Wise County, Virginia; brothers, Gregory Dowdy (Denise) of Pembroke, and Jay Dowdy (Carolyn) of Dugspur, VA; sister-in-law, Cathy Dowdy of Newport, VA; and three nephews.

There will be a memorial service conducted on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at 4:00 PM in Riverview Baptist Church with Pastor Shahn Wilburn officiating.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Riverview Baptist Church.  A guestbook is available to send condolences by visiting www.kendallfuneralhome.com.  The staff of Kendall Funeral Home are honored to serve the Dowdy family.
