Barbara Jean Cumbee Langford of Pembroke, VA went to be with the Lord on August 1, 2021.  She was born January 17, 1950 to Orbie and Pauline Cumbee in her beloved Giles County.  Barbara married James "Jimmy" Langford, and they had 53 years; three children, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren together. They attended Riverview Baptist Church in Ripplemead, VA.

Barbara leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband Jimmy, their children, Lynn Langford and Lorri Langford all of Pembroke; her son, James "Lynn Langford" her siblings Ronnie Cumbee (Claudine) of Pembroke, Geneva Robinette (Cecil) of Pembroke, and Charlotte Henderson of Pembroke; grandchildren Josh, Ashley, and Dakota; as well as great-grandchildren, cousins, nephews, nieces, and in-laws.

Barbara was preceded in death by her first-born child, Heather Langford DeHart; her parents, Orbie and Pauline Cumbee; her sisters, JoAnn Harless (Jimmy), Betty Dowdy (Jimmy), and Patty Sesser (Vic), brother, Donnie Cumbee, and Father and Mother-in-law, Raymond and Kathleen Langford.

Barbara was a world-class flatfoot dancer and Rook and Gin Rummy card player.  She was patient, kind, gentle, and loved nothing more than spending time with her children.  After a brief move to Michigan and then to Roanoke, Barbara and Jimmy returned to their native Giles County, never to leave again.

Barbara's physical form may be gone from Earth, but Barbara will live on in our hearts and memories.  The love never dies.  We know we will see Barbara again.  Hebrews 6:19 reminds us "We have this hope as an anchor for our souls, firm and secure.

We will remember her and celebrate her life together, Friday, August 6, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel (605 Snidow St. Pembroke, VA) with Shahn Wilburn officiating.  Funeral services will conclude at Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg, VA.  Family will receive friends in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM.  A guestbook is available by visiting www.kendallfuneralhome.com .  The staff of Kendall Funeral Home are honored to be serving the Langford Family.
