Barbara Ann Brown Kessinger, age 71, of Vinton, Virginia, passed away on March 30, 2026. She was born on November 30, 1954, in Pearisburg, Virginia, and lived a life marked by kindness, quiet strength, and devotion to the people and pastimes she loved. Barbara was a caring and hardworking woman who spent part of her working life in housekeeping at Mountain Lake, where she was known for her dependable nature and her steady commitment to doing her work well. She approached life with humility and grace, and those who knew her appreciated her gentle spirit and warm presence. Barbara found meaning in the simple blessings of daily life, and she carried herself with a sincerity that left a lasting impression on family and friends alike. She enjoyed many hobbies that reflected her creative and thoughtful personality. Barbara loved crafts, and she took pleasure in making things by hand with patience and care. She also enjoyed Sunday School, where her faith and fellowship were important parts of her life. Gardening brought her peace and satisfaction, and she found joy in watching things grow. She also enjoyed drawing and playing Bingo, activities that gave her both relaxation and enjoyment. These interests brought her happiness throughout her life and were a reflection of the many ways she embraced each day. Barbara was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who treasured her family deeply. She is survived by her daughter, Ada Ratcliffe. She is also survived by her brother, David Allen Brown and his wife Teri, and by her sisters, Carol Brown and Debra Zirbel. Her loving legacy continues through her grandchildren, Shawn Ratcliffe Jr., Sharee Burkitt and her husband Brian, Shaiden Ratcliffe, Shaina Ratcliffe, and Raylin Ratcliffe. She was also blessed with a great-grandchild, Tinsley Cash, who brought added joy to her family. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, James Brown and Cardella Manning Brown. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Jerry Lawrence Perdue and James Nelson Kessinger, as well as by her siblings, Judith Hamlin, Ronnie Brown, Julie Brown, and Jamie Banes. Their memories remained a part of her life, and she carried their love with her always.
