Bertie Sanders Cumbee, born Febuary 21st 1938 in Goldbond VA, to the late Walter Dexter Sanders and late Zena Collins Sanders, She Departed this life July 3rd 2026, in the comfort of her sons home in Pearisburg VA. Bertie worked at Celanese and the Radford Arsenal. She was preceded in death by her Husband, Richard Lee Cumbee, Son Richard Edward Cumbee Sisters Leona Combs and Hazel Hilton, Brothers Walter Daniel, Silas, Woody, Sam, Buddy David Saunders. Left to carry on her memory are her son Dennis Cumbee (Tammy), her daughters Melissa Morris (Tracy) and Gladys Hyatt (Mike) and her Sister Naomi Merrix, 8 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren and Several nieces and nephews. Bertie enjoyed Knitting, Sewing, Working the Garden, Canning, Going to Auctions and playing with any child that came around. Special thanks to the wonderful nurses and staff at MEDI Hospice for the excellent care. Service will be conducted at Kendall Funeral Home Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Shahn Wilburn. Family will receive Family and Friends from 1:00p.m to 2:00p.m. Burial to follow at Fillinger’s Cemetery in Pembroke VA. The Cumbee family is being served by Kendall Funeral Home in Pembroke VA
