Beulah Mae "Gay" Martin, 83, of Celestial Heights Road, Pembroke departed this life Monday evening December 3, 2007 at Heritage Hall Health Care in Blacksburg after a long illness. Born in Giles Co on February 17, 1924 she was a daughter of the late Lacy Snow and Ocie Woods Meredith. Gay was a beloved mother and grandmother who delighted in keeping her home and caring for all of her family, and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, New River Ward in Pembroke. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Elmer C. Martin; her son Billy Joe Martin; her granddaughter Sandra Martin; her brothers Robert, Charles, Jim Bill, and John Lewis Meredith and her sisters Nancy Huffman and Ola Evans.

She leaves to cherish her memory her son and daughter-in-law Elmer "Gene" and Phyllis Martin of Ruther Glen, VA; her daughter Deloris "Sissy" Price of Pembroke; her daughter-in-law Eloise Collins Martin of Pembroke; her eight grandchildren Teresa Martin, Sherry and John Eaton, Angela and Garry Hamblin, Kevin H. Price, Kathy Johnston, Kay Zimmerman, Donna Ratcliffe and Debbie Caverness; her nine great-grandchildren Chelsey Eaton, John William "JW" Eaton, Greg Hamblin, Barry Elliott, Angel Rode, Matthew Johnston, Michael McGuirie, Diana McGuire, and Mary Lytton; her sisters Geraldine Williams of Newport and Gladys and Franklin Rock of Newport; her brother Cedric Miller "Shag" Meredith of Christiansburg; her beloved canine friend "Annie" and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2:00 PM in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, New River Ward in Pembroke with Bishop Cantrall Martin presiding. Burial will follow in the Martin-Meredith Cemetery on Doe Creek near Pembroke. The family will receive friends at The Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 PM.
