Bobby Luther Cumbee, 66, of the Maybrook Community, Pembroke, departed this life Friday morning, January 31, 2014 at his home. Born in Maybrook on August 23, 1947, he was a son of the late William Homer and Elsie Mae Dowdy Cumbee. He was a stone mason by trade, proud of all the work he had done on the Virginia Tech Campus, and was a veteran of the U S Army. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Warren A. and Richard L. Cumbee.

He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Tammy Tawney of Pembroke; his grandchildren Matthew Tyler Perkins, Taylor Perkins, and Tara Bryant; his brother William David Cumbee of Maybrook; and his sisters Louise Dowdy of Newport, and Hazel Warsing of Crewe.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 pm in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6 until 8 pm.
