Carlene Sue Colley, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026, in Narrows, Virginia, at the age of 67. Born on December 29, 1958, in Grundy, Virginia, to Elster Lee Colley and the late Iva Lee Cawley, Carlene's life was a testament to her unwavering love for her family and her commitment to caring for others.
Carlene's warmth and compassion knew no bounds. She dedicated many years of service to the Riverview Nursing Home, where her kindness touched the lives of countless individuals. Her dedication to her work was paralleled only by her devotion to her family. She was a steadfast caregiver for her parents and other family members.
She reveled in the accomplishments of her son, Lee Garrett Caudle, and her daughter, Britni Caudle. Carlene's pride in her family extended to her cherished grandchildren, Anna Leigh Caudle (Garrett) and Lexi Ann Smith, and she was overjoyed by the arrival of her great-granddaughter, Indigo Blankenship. Her love and guidance will forever be a guiding light in their lives. While her father, Elster will remember with fondness all of the memories of Carlene from toddlerhood bumps, to teenage joys and finally into adulthood as a mother and caregiver. Carlene's spirit of generosity and love was also shared with her sister, Linda Shorter (James), and she found joy in their close bond. Her furbaby, Trouble, was a source of comfort. Her brother, Lee Roy Colley, and her mother, Iva Lee Cawley, preceded her in death, and they now welcome her into eternal rest.
Beyond her family and work, Carlene was an avid reader, finding solace and adventure within the pages of countless books. She had an unquenchable zest for life, evident in her love of travel and her enthusiasm for shopping. Carlene was a familiar face at every sporting event she could attend that her children and grandchildren participated in, cheering them on with vigor and pride.
