Charles Thomas Ramsey

Reverend Charles Thomas Ramsey, affectionately known to many as Reverend Tommy, and formerly of the Little Creek Community was a beacon of faith and a pillar in his community. Born on May 8, 1933, in the picturesque Bland County, Virginia, he was a man whose life was dedicated to the service of others and the glorification of the Lord. On March 4, 2026, at the age of 92, Reverend Tommy was called to his heavenly home from Knob Lick, Kentucky, surrounded by the love of his family and the peace of Jesus Christ.

His earthly journey was marked by love, commitment, and service. He shared a beautiful and inspiring 70-year union with his beloved wife, Barbara "Bobbie" Combs Ramsey. Together, they raised a family that was a testament to their love and faith, including their daughter, Charlotte Harmon, and her husband, Michael. Reverend Tommy was a proud grandfather to Shannon Akers, Adam Harmon and his wife Hilary, Tommy Akers and his wife Shelana, Corey Harmon and his wife Katie, and Megan Jones and her husband Jason. His legacy continued to bloom through his eleven great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren; several other close family members, close friends; and the many lives he touched.

Before answering the call to ministry, Reverend Tommy served with honor in the United States Army during the Korean conflict, where he was recognized for his conduct and service with several medals, including the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, and United Nations Service Medal. Following his military service, he found his true calling as a Minister of the Gospel of his Lord Jesus Christ at Little Creek Tabernacle Church. He was a fervent preacher who upheld a standard of holiness and was deeply involved in missionary work, particularly with the people of Haiti and Jamaica, who held a special place in his heart. The Reverend's evangelistic fervor was seen through his dedication to tent revivals and other community works, always eager to join hands with churches and individuals to spread the love and message of Jesus Christ. His prayers were powerful and passionate, always desiring for every soul to experience the transformative love of the Lord. Professionally, he also served the children of the community of Parrott as he ensured their safety as their school bus driver. Reverend Tommy was a man of many talents and interests. His love for carpentry work and drawing was only surpassed by the joy he found in spending time with his family. Those who knew him best would describe him as passionate and faith-filled—a man whose life was a living sermon of the grace and compassion of Jesus.

His departure from this world leaves behind a legacy of unwavering faith and boundless love. Though preceded in death by his parents, William Benjamin Ramsey and Cora Hubbard Ramsey, his children, Charles Anthony Ramsey, Teresa Akers, and Pamela Ramsey, and his eight siblings, his spirit lives on in the hearts of all who were privileged to know him. As we celebrate the life of Reverend Charles Thomas Ramsey, we are reminded of the scripture from 2 Timothy 4:7, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." Reverend Tommy indeed fought the good fight, finished his race with grace, and kept the faith unblemished. His life was a testament to the goodness of God, and his memory will continue to inspire us until we meet again in the presence of our Lord and Savior.

The family will receive friends at a time of visitation on Sunday, March 8, 2026 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at The Little Creek Tabernacle. A funeral service will be conducted for Rev. Tommy on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Tommy Peters officiating.
