Clara Bernice McCoy, 94, of Spruce Run, Newport, departed this life Tuesday morning, February 17, 2015 at Heritage Hall Health Care in Blacksburg. Born at Goodwins Ferry, Giles County, on January 2, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth Keith and Inis May Kirk Vaught. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ira Kent McCoy, her son Edward Kent McCoy; her brothers Elston, Virgil, Zannie, and Kenneth Jr., and her sisters Lorena Kincaid, Dot Duncan, and Edith Duncan.

She leaves to cherish her memory her son and daughter-in-law Charles and Karen McCoy of Newport; her daughters and sons-in-law Carolyn and Bobby Kessinger of Newport, Debra McCoy Rogers and Mike Rogers of Vienna; her eight grandchildren; her fourteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 am at Birchlawn Abbey in Pearisburg with Pastor Gary Poff officiating. The family will receive friends at the Abbey following the services.
