Obituary

Clarence Duke Reynolds II, affectionately known as Duke and by others as "Grumpy" or "CD", of Newport, Virginia passed away on December 27, 2025, at the age of 56 under the care of Pheasant Ridge Nursing and Rehab in Roanoke, Virginia. He was born on September 17, 1969, in Radford, Virginia.

Duke was the proud son of the late Paula Reed Reynolds and late Leslie Kirby Reynolds. He was a beloved brother to Sandra "Lou" Reynolds Smith and a treasured nephew to his aunts and uncles, Sandra Raines Reynolds, Sammy and Sue Reynolds, Randy and BJ Kirby, and Jackie Collins. Duke's life was enriched by his close-knit family, including his cousins, Chris and Amy Reynolds, Jennifer Wallace and Roger Bandy – who is also considered a very good friend of the family. He was preceded in death by his loving grandparents, Virginia and Ernest Reynolds, and Skeeter and Tub Kirby, as well as his dear aunt, Patti Collins, and his best friend, Mouse, who were all integral parts of his life.

A self-employed carpenter by trade, Duke was known for his exceptional workmanship and meticulous attention to detail. His hands were not only skilled in shaping wood but also in bringing life back to vehicles, a passion he pursued with great enthusiasm. Duke could often be found under the hood of a car, working tirelessly to restore it to its former glory along the side of his friend Mouse. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed the simple pleasure of hitting golf balls, whether it was to perfect his swing or to savor the fresh air. The river was another sanctuary for him, a place where he spent countless hours, fishing rod in hand, or simply basking in the tranquility of nature.  Finally, he enjoyed being on the farm.

There will be a gathering of friends on Saturday, January 3, 2025 from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM in Newport Mount Olivet United Methodist Church.  A time to celebrate and share stories of Duke's life will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2025 at 3:00 PM in Newport Mount Olivet United Methodist Church.  A burial will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2025 at 2:00 PM in the Newport Cemetery.  A guestbook is available to send condolences to the family by visiting www.kendallfuneralhome.com.  The staff of Kendall Funeral Home are honored to serve the Reynolds family.
