Curtis Gene Johnson , 31, of Pearisburg died Friday December 24, 2004 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke from injuries sustained in a muzzle-loader hunting accident. Born in Pearisburg on January 12, 1973 he is the son of Earl Gene and Judy Dale Vaught Johnson of Pearisburg. He was employed with New River Foundry in Radford, was a member of the 1991 graduating class at Giles High School; and was an expert hunter and fisherman, in January he caught the state champion trout.

He leaves to cherish his memory his parents; his fiancée Melinda Turner of Narrows; his daughter Courtney Renee Johnson; his sister and brother-in-law Sherri J. and Tim Moore of Blacksburg; paternal grandmother Ethel Johnson of Pearisburg; a niece Devin Moore and a nephew Cameron Moore.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday December 29, 2004 at 2:00 PM in the Church of God of Prophecy at Narrows with Pastor Jim Hagy and Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke Tuesday evening from 6 to 9 PM.
