Cynthia Ruth Church Wakefield, 40, of Richmond and formerly of Giles County, passed away Monday morning, November 7, 2005 at her home. Born in Pearisburg on November 29, 1964 she was a daughter of Esther Gilmer Newby of Rye Hollow, Giles County, and the late Raleigh Lee Newby. She was self-employed as an auto upholsterer and antique care restorer.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Bruce Raymond Wakefield; two daughters Samantha Nicole Wakefield and Amanda Renee Wakefield of the home; her mother Esther Gilmer Newby of Pearisburg; a brother Steven Newby of Pearisburg; a step-son Shannon Ray Wakefield and his wife Monica Wakefield of Richmond; two grandchildren Colin and Carter Wakefield of Richmond.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday morning at 11:00 AM in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with burial following in the Newby Cemetery in Rye Hollow near Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 PM.
