Anna Darlene Booth Tate, of the Clendennin Community in Narrows, Virginia passed away on March 27, 2026, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia, at the age of 73.
Born on May 30, 1952, in Virginia, she lived a life marked by devotion, and quiet strength. Darlene was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose presence brought comfort and warmth to those around her. She was a Christian and a faithful member of the family of faith at Bethel Chapel in the Clendennin Community, where her life reflected the values she held dear. Darlene devoted herself to her home and family as a homemaker, a role she embraced with love and pride. She found joy in creating a welcoming home and took great care in making every area of it beautiful. Her hands were often busy with crochet, gardening, and baking, and she shared these gifts generously with those she loved. She especially treasured her family and held a special place in her heart for her grandchildren, who brought her great happiness and pride throughout her life.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Tate; her daughters, Belinda Thompson and her husband Kevin, and Heather Blankenship; and her cherished grandchildren, Lauren George and her husband Matt, Megan Holland and her husband Nick, Riley Lawrence and her husband Nick, Nathan Thompson, Andrew Blankenship and his wife Sidney, Emily Blankenship, Noah Blankenship, and Matthew Blankenship and his wife Alyssa. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Adelyn George, Melody Lawrence, Ava Blankenship, and Elisa Blankenship. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Everett James Booth and Anna Mae Lambert Booth; her grandson who held a special place in her heart, Zachary Adam Thompson; and her siblings, Billy, Robert, Frankie, Richard, Charles, James, and Beauford Booth. She carried the memory of her loved ones in her heart throughout her life, and those who knew her will remember the deep love she had for her family.
The family will receive friends at a time of visitation on Monday, March 30, 2026 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM in Bethel Chapel. A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, March 30, 2026 at 2:00 PM in Bethel Chapel with a special part of her life who was much like family, Courtney Blankenship officiating. Funeral services will conclude in the Deaton Family Cemetery in Clendennin where she will be laid to rest.
