Darrell Johann Carlson, II, of Eggleston Road at Pembroke departed this life Saturday morning February 17, 2007 in the loving care of his family at his home. Born in Dan Diego, California on August 29, 1943 he was a son of the late D. J. Carlson, I, and Mary Jean Ramsay Carlson. He was a decorated veteran of the Viet Nam War, received the purple heart and served in the U S Navy and Army. He was a dental lab tech with Saunders Dental Lab in Roanoke and had worked at Georgetown University Dental School. He was a member of Pembroke First United Methodist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife Catherine Zettl Carlson; faithful daughters Debbie Noonkester and Karen Filak and five other children; four close grandchildren.

Memorial services will be conducted Saturday February 24, 2007 at 11:00 AM in Pembroke First United Methodist Church with Pastor Bill Greer officiating. The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to Carilion New River Valley Hospice at 707 Randolph St. in Radford, VA 24141.
