DAVID DOUGLAS MERRIX, 57, of Ripplemead, departed this life Friday morning, September 16, 2016 in the loving care of his family. Born on June 30, 1959 in Pearisburg he was a son of Naomi Sanders Merrix of Ripplemead and the late William Douglas Merrix. He had been employed as an iron worker for Local 5 in Washington, DC and was a 1978 graduate of Giles High School. He was preceded in death by his brother Michael Lee Merrix, and his father William Douglas Merrix.

He leaves to cherish his memory his son and daughter-in-law Jon and Rachel Merrix of Ripplemead; his mother Naomi Sanders Merrix of Ripplemead; his brother and sister-in-law Scott and Melissa Merrix of Peterstown, WV; his sister Drema M. Runions of Ripplemead; and his grandchildren Logan Merrix, Lyndsey Akers, and Lacie Merrix.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, September 18, 2016 at 2:00 pm in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St. Pembroke with Pastor Merrell Hedrick officiating. Burial will follow in the Fillinger Cemetery at Pembroke. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from five until seven pm.
