David Wayne Smith, 63, of Pearisburg, departed this life Saturday morning, November 28, 2015 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA. He was born in Bluefield, WV on April 24, 1952. David was a veteran of the U S Air Force, had worked as a sales rep for school supplies, had operated his own janitorial service co., and had earned a Masters Degree in Forensic Science. He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father Lutishia and Charles Hartwell.

He leaves to cherish his memory his father and step-mother Howard Wayne and Mary Clay Smith of Powhatan; his sons Timothy Smith and his fiancé Gabrielle Merrix of Pearisburg, and Garrett Dean Smith of Radford; his daughter and son-in-law Miranda and Jay Quesenberry of Christiansburg; his brother Stan and Wanda Smith of Moneta; his sister Charlene and Bob Terry of Pearisburg; his grandchildren Coy and Sheree Smith of Radford, Gracelynn Smith of Pearisburg, Timmy, Chelsea, and Cayden Quesenberry of Christiansburg; his nieces Christina and Gene Niece of Pearisburg, Shalane N. Jones of Pearisburg; and his great-niece Harper Skye Jones.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, December 2, 2015, at 1:00 pm in The Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., in Pembroke. Burial will follow in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Dublin with military honors by VFW and American Legion Posts.
