Donald Lee Kirby of Ripplemead, VA left this world January 16, 2024 at Lewis-Gale Medical Center-Montgomery. Born in Smyth County, Virginia on June 4, 1942, he was a son of the late Don and Hazel Kirby.

Don was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying the pleasures that nature held, spending his spare time hunting and fishing. A true sportsman, Don also enjoyed playing golf.

In addition to his parents, Don is preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Wade and Doris Kirby; and his granddaughter, Nicole Kirby.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Johnson Kirby; children, Robert Kirby (Gayle), Donna Voss (Roger), Cassandra Pagan (Pablo), Ryan Kirby (Jenn); grandchildren, Nora Hodges (Micah), Joseph Kirby, Olivia Pagan, Patrick Kirby, and Ian Kirby; and great-grandchildren, Archer Hodges and a beloved expected great-grandchild.

The family will have a time of reflection of the life of Don as they receive friends in a time of visitation in Kendall Funeral Home on Friday, January 19, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. There will be no funeral service as it was Don's wish to be cremated. The family will hold a private burial at a later date.
