Dorine Kast Merrix, 72 of Pearisburg, departed this life Monday evening, June 5, 2017 in the care of Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg. Borne in Pembroke on June 3, 1945 she was a daughter of Odie and Ada Hilton Kast. She was retired from the Celanese Plant at Narrows and had been employed at several fast-food restaurants and was a graduate of Pembroke High School. Dorine was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, Pam, a brother Odie Kast and sisters Margaret Lawson, Elizabeth Tease, Bernice Kast and Ella Rakes.

She leaves to forever cherish her memory her faithful and devoted companion and caregiver of almost 30 years William Dean; her sons and daughters-in-law Gene and Sherry Merrix of Narrows and Tim and Dee Merrix of Christiansburg; her brother and sister-in-law Charles and Lena Kast of Narrows; her sisters and brother-in-law Linda K and Johnnie Sexton of Pearisburg and Mary K Collins of Pembroke; her 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2:00 pm in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with burial following in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg.
