Dorothy Marie Carter, 78, of Blacksburg and formerly of Pearisburg died Monday January 21, 2008 at Montgomery Regional Hospital in Blacksburg after being a resident of Heritage Hall Health Care in Blacksburg. Born in Giles County on February 19, 1929 she was a daughter of the late Mason and Sadie Stevers Carter. She is survived by a sister Ruby Virginia Wright of Rock Island, Illinois; several half-brothers and sisters; several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and her friend and caregiver Janice Carlyle of Blacksburg. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home in Pembroke with Pastor Merrell Hedrick officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg.
