Dorothy Louise Groves, 88, of Pearisburg, departed this life Tuesday morning, January 29, 2019 in the care of Heritage Hall Rich Creek. Born in Giles County on June 10, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Omer F and Reba Dell Collins Shepherd. She was retired from Food Service at Virginia Tech and expressed her faith as a member of The First Church of God in Rich Creek. Dot was preceded in death by her parents; her husband James Groves; her brothers James and John Madison Shepherd; her sisters Nannie Iretta Stump, Julie Colet Dalton, Virginia Lee May, Margaret Dolly White, Violet Marie Chewning; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted sister and brother-in-law Betty S. and Roger Williams and their family of Pearisburg and other neices and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the Kendall Funeral Home 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke from 10 am until 11 am Thursday morning with graveside service following in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. Online condolences may be sent by visiting kendallfuneralhome.com
