Douglas Carroll King, 57, of Chapman St. in Pembroke died Friday December 8, 2006 in a heavy equipment accident at his work in Christiansburg. He was born in Giles County on October 22, 1949, was a member of First Baptist Church in Pembroke, and was employed with The Town of Christiansburg. He was preceded in death by his father Rufus B. King, Sr.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved mother Vellen Summers King of Pembroke; the Mother of His Children and His Love, Brenda Hairston of Pembroke; two sons Steve Hairston and Derek Hairston both of Pembroke; three brothers Rufus Lee King, Jr. of Pembroke, Frederick Merriel King and Wife Melissa S. King of Pembroke, Donald Lewis King and wife Madeline King of Pembroke; a sister and brother-in-law Joann K. Carper and Rev. Fred Carper of Pembroke.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with Pastor Eddie Kendall and The Rev. Fred Carper officiating. Burial will follow in Horseshoe Cemetery at Pembroke. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 6 to 8 PM.
