Obituary

Dwight Miller Gilmer, 74, and Barbara Ann Conley Gilmer, 72, of the Clendennin Community near Narrows departed this life Friday, October 20, 2017 in a tragic automobile accident near their home. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 2:00 pm in Bethel Chapel, Clendennin Road, Narrows, with Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friend at the church, Monday evening from 5 until 8 pm. Barbara and Dwight lived and farmed and raised their family in the Clendennin Community all of their married life, and worshiped at Bethel Chapel. They were married at the church on February 10, 1963 and the Lord gave them 54 years of a fulfilled life.



Dwight and Barbara were blessed to be the parents of two daughters and their husbands, "Pete" Danita and Jimmy Blankenship of Narrows and "Charlie" Melody and Kevin Price of Pearisburg; their grandchildren Justin Price (Kellie), Courtney Blankenship (DJ) of Pearisburg; Garret Blankenship (Abby) of Narrows; and 5 great-grandchildren



Barbara Ann Conley Gilmer was born October 23, 1945 in Pearisburg to George Houston and Frances Beatrice Meredith. She was a devoted Christian and very active in her church work. She was the daughter of Frances Beatrice Meredith Conley of Narrows and the late George Houston Conley. She leaves her mother and a brother, Jimmie Martin of Narrows to cherish her memory.



Dwight Miller Gilmer, was born February 10, 1943 in Clendennin to the late Earl Miller Gilmer and the late Virginia Pauline Deaton Gilmer. He was a member of the Pearisburg High School Class of 1961, the last class of "Red Devils". He was retired from the Celanese Plant Boiler House with 63 years service but was always a farmer at heart. He leaves a sister and brother-in-law Fern and Eddie Kendall of Pembroke and a brother Elliott G. "Buck" Gilmer of Narrows to cherish his memory.
