Edward Earl Dowell, Jr. of Beller St., Narrows, departed this life Saturday morning, February 9, 2013 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke after a long illness. Born in Chesapeake, VA on November 11, 1953, he was a son of Edward Sr. and Shirley Lee Dowell of Chesapeake. He had been employed as a boiler maker.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his parents; his beloved wife Vada Allen Dowell of the home; his son Edward Earl Dowell, III of Florida; his step children James Allen and wife Lisha Broyles of Narrows, Kenneth Broyles of Chicago, Misty Jane Dawn and Chris McCroskey of Narrows; his brother Kenneth Lee Dowell of Chesapeake; his sisters Shirley Hanna of Winchester, Donna Freeman and husband Lee of Suffolk and his three grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted Monday at 7:00 pm in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the services.
