Emery Sue Russ, affectionately known as Critter or Whisper, was born on June 4, 2026, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Though her time with us was brief, the impact of her presence was profound and deeply cherished by all who knew her.

From the moment of her birth, Emery was dearly loved by her parents, Jake Russ and Kelsey Meredith, who held her close with unwavering love and tenderness. She was also treasured by her grandmothers, Kelly Meredith and Sue Russ, whose affection added warmth and strength to her brief journey. Her extended family surrounded her with care, including aunts and uncles Robert Meredith III, Anthony Meredith with Raygon, Ross Meredith, Barry Stephens, Garry Stephens, Jamie Stephens, Chris Stephens, and Casey Stephens.

Among her many relatives, Emery held a special place in the hearts of her cousins—Lilliana Meredith, Presslyn Meredith, Hudson Meredith, Jameson Brown, Waylon Brown—as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who will carry her memory forward in their hearts.

Emery passed away at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital on the day she was born, June 4, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love that transcends the brevity of her life. Though her time was brief, the tenderness and affection that surrounded her formed an unbreakable bond among her family, a testament to how deeply she was loved.

Her spirit, known intimately by her family as both Critter and Whisper, will continue to resonate in the lives of those who loved her most. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, especially Becky Bridges and Nurse Practitioner, Charlene Myers.  In remembering Emery Sue Russ, we honor the love and connection that knew no bounds, a precious gift that will forever be held close to the hearts of her parents, grandparents, family, and all who mourn her loss.  A guestbook is available to send condolences to the family by visiting www.kendallfuneralhome.com.  The staff of Kendall Funeral Home are honored to serve the Russ family.
