Emmett Russell Holdren, 83, of Croft Road, Pembroke, VA departed this life Friday evening, September 28, 2018 at Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg. Born in Giles County on May 14, 1935, he was a son of the late Benjamin Harrison Holdren and China Rose Davis Holdren. He was a veteran of the U S Army and retired from RAAP where he worked in NG. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sarah Mullins Holdren whom he dearly loved and missed and his sisters Bernice, Laney, Elsie, Clarice, Jamie, Ella, and Joyce, and his brothers Noel, Arvin, Eugene, Edwin, and Allie.

He leaves to cherish his memory his daughters Carol H. Mattox of Salem and Betty Kay Holdren of the home; and his grandson Austin Mattox of Salem.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, October 1, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with burial following in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg.
