Ernest Carter Caldwell, "Butch", 32 of Newport died Tuesday May 3, 2005 at Montgomery Regional Hospital in Blacksburg. Born on February 3, 1973 in Montgomery County he was a son of Barbara Lafon Caldwell of Newport and the late Fred Allen Long and the adopted son of the late Verlie and Goldie Bowyer Caldwell. He is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law Anthony Allen and Tanna R. Long of Pearisburg and several cousins, friends and a special cousin Vincent Robinson. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday May 7, 2005 at 7:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke. The family will receive friends at the funeral home two hours before the services. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
