Obituary

Evangeline Sutphin Tickle, 89, of Pleasant Hill Lane in Pembroke departed this life for her heavenly home, Thursday morning, December 4, 2014 in the care of Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg. Born at Laurel Fork in Carroll County on April 19, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Willie and Emma Lake Kathleen Ashley Sutphin. She was a beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, (Great & Great,Great), a devout and active Christian, worshipping in the fellowship of the Pembroke Assembly of God for over 50 years. She had looked forward to meeting "My Jesus", her parents, her twin sister Kathleen S. Tickle, and her beloved husband whom she so missed, George M. Tickle, when she made her final journey to her eternal home.



She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her daughter and son-in-law Ellen and David Tate of Pearisburg; her son and daughter-in-law William and Jean Tickle of Roanoke; her grandchildren Valarie T. Smith (Jim) of Pearisburg, Karen Austin (Duane) of Roanoke, Brian Tate (Pam) of Pearisburg, Michelle Cash (Doug) of Bristo; her great-grandchildren Stephanie Fisher, Ashley Tate Snider, Logan Tate, Brandon Kelly, Joshua Austin, Lauren Cash; her great-great-grandchildren Kylee Snider, Owen Snider, Laighton Tate, Tucker Tate, Parker Tate, Maddox Woodyard, Pierce Woodyard; her brother-in-law Jerry Tickle (whom she and George raised in their home) of Roanoke; and a host of neighbors and Christian brothers and sisters.



Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 pm in the Pembroke Assembly of God with Pastor Cherie Dunford, Pastor David Bracken, Pastor Jessie Bass, Pastor Terry Eversole, Pastor Troy Bartley, and Pastor Eddie Kendall ministering. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park at Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the church Saturday evening from 6 until 8 pm. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Vangie's memory to the Pembroke Assembly of God. The Kendall Funeral Home in Pembroke is in charge of the arrangements.
