Everett Parks JR, 69, of Pembroke, VA departed this life after a courageous battle with cancer on February 19, 2020 at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. Born April 6, 1950 in Pembroke, VA, he was the son of the late Everett Parks, Sr. and Annabell Dean Parks.
A man described as the best teacher with a contagious smile and many selfless qualities, he was a high school graduate and had served his country in the United States Air Force. He had served Eastern Elementary and Middle School as a custodian for over 30 years. He was also a member of the Pembroke First Baptist Church.
Everett was preceded in death by his parents.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Jean Redd Parks; son, Everett Jermaine Parks of North Carolina; a daughter, April Harper of North Carolina, a step-son, Jimmy Peoples of Pembroke; brothers, Walter David Parks (Joyce) of Blacksburg, and John Hoge Parks of Roanoke; sisters, Molly P Saunders (E. Lee Saunders) of Pembroke, Margaret M. Ross of Roanoke, VA, and Diane Parks of Pembroke, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a step-grandson, Adam; a step-great-grandson Isaiah; and a host of friends who felt privileged to learn from him.
A Memorial Service will be conducted on Friday, February 28, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Pembroke First Baptist Church with Pastor Marcus Turner officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Pembroke First Baptist Church. Online condolences may be sent by visiting kendallfuneralhome.com.
