George Eddie Kingrea, 85 of Pearisburg, Virginia departed this life for his home in glory on June 4, 2026 at his home after a lengthy illness.

Eddie was born at Bane, Virginia on May 11, 1941. He was the son of the late Arthur Roscoe Kingrea and Alice Trump Kingrea.

Eddie worked and retired from Appalachian Power Company in Glen Lyn, Virginia and also Warm Hearth Village in Blacksburg, Virginia. A member of the Pearisburg Volunteer Fire Department, for 62 years, he served his community in many ways. His life revolved around the Fire Department.

Eddie was a devoted member of the Pearisburg First United Methodist Church for 50 years where he served on the Usher Corp, church council, and building and grounds committee.

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Billy John Kingrea and Bobby Ray Kingrea; sister, Joyce Patrick; and mother and father-in-law, Howard and Eleanor Hunter.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years, Cheryl Hunter Kingrea; son Rev. Jeffrey Todd Kingrea (Felicia), two grandsons, Brett Howard Kingrea (Catie), and Matthew Ryan Kingrea (Makayla); two great-grandchildren, Johnny and Raylan; and a brother, Jack Eller Kingrea. He also leaves two very special children that meant so much to “E” as they called him. He was like a second father to them.

The family will receive friends at a time of visitation on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM in Kendall Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday June 10, 2026 at 1:00 PM in Kendall Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Moore of Eaton’s Chapel officiating. Funeral services will conclude in Birchlawn Burial Park where he will be laid to rest. Memorial contributions may be given in his honor and memory to the Pearisburg Volunteer Fire Department, Pearisburg First United Methodist Church, and Eaton’s Chapel.
