Harvey Bracket Jones, Jr.,82, of Snidow St. in Pembroke departed this life early Sunday morning, July 7, 2013 in the peace of his own home. Born in Pembroke on March 28, 1931 he was a son of the late Harvey B. Jones, Sr. and Gertrude Niece Jones. He was a welder and maintenance worker at the power plant at VPI. Junior was a veteran of the U S Army, Korean Conflict, a member of the Pembroke Volunteer Fire Department for over 50 years, a member of American Legion Post 311 in Pembroke, and he had attended the Pembroke Church of God when it was open and for the last few years attended the Pembroke First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bobby Jones, his sister Annabelle Croy, his brothers-in-law Lee Turner and Buford Croy.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Betty Turner Jones; his daughters and sons-in-law Sherry and Rusty Kelley of Pembroke, Vickie and Stanley Lucas of Pembroke; his beloved buddy and grandson Casey Lucas; and his sister-in-law Wanda Jones of Pembroke.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 1:00 pm in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with Pastor James Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 pm. While flowers will be appreciated, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Pembroke Volunteer Fire Department, P.O.Box 218, Pembroke, VA.
