Hermie Baxter Medley, 97, of the Kire Community in Giles County died Wednesday evening, February 2, 2005 at Richfield Nursing Center in Salem. Born in Kire on January 23, 1908 he was a son of the late James E. and Rosa Epling Medley. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife Virginia Conley Medley and his son H. B. Medley, Jr. He was a veteran of the U S Navy in WW II, was a millwright by trade and was baptized at Riverview Baptist Church in Ripplemead.

He leaves to cherish his memory a granddaughter and her husband Gabriele and David Harry of Oak Ridge, NC and a great-granddaughter Natalie C. Harry of Chapel Hill, NC.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 AM in the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with Pastor Shahn Wilburn officiating. Entombment will follow in Birchlawn Abbey in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6 to 8 PM.
