Jack Donald Songer, 69, of Blacksburg and formerly of Newport, departed this life Tuesday morning, August 19, 2008 at Montgomery Regional Hospital in Blacksburg. Born in Giles County on September 30, 1938, he was a son of the late Edward L. and Mattie Sue Epling Songer. He was a tile setter by trade.

He leaves to cherish his memory two sisters Virginia S. Davis and her husband Vivian of Salem, and Lois S. Breeding of Pembroke; three brothers Daniel L. Songer and his wife Jean of Colonial Heights, Eddie Songer of Christiansburg, Mickel "Ike" Songer and his wife Glenda of Christiansburg; and a very special and long-time friend Pat Watkins of Pembroke.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 AM in the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with burial following in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg.
