James Buchanan Corell, 73, of Pearisburg, departed this life Monday afternoon, February 25, 2008, in Newport at the home of his daughter and caregiver. Born in Bane on June 18, 1934 he was a son of the late John Harrison and Leah Sue Ballard Corell. Jim was a member of The First Christian Church in Pearisburg, a veteran of the U S Marine Corp, and retired from service with the U S Government as a Quality Assurance Officer. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Shirley Ann Long Corell.

He leaves to cherish and love his memory a daughter Belinda Corell-Berckman and her husband Jim of Newport; a son and daughter-in-law Gregory S. and Lisa J. Corell of Pearisburg; grandchildren Samantha Jane Corell and Molly Ann Corell; sisters Eileen T. Martin of Vinton and Betty C. Dowdy of Dublin.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 1, 2008, at 11:00 AM in The Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with burial following in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6 to 8 PM. The family will receive friends at other times at the Berckman Home at 276 Spruce Run Road in Newport.
