James Edward "Jim" Gray Jr, 77 of Pembroke, VA departed this life September 14, 2020 in the care of Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born in Giles County on February 1, 1943, he was a son of the late James Edward Gray Sr. and Thelma Burton Gray.

He spent his life in service to his community and nation. Having went to Community College for two years, Jim also proudly served in the US Navy aboard the USS North Hampton CC1. Perhaps though, his greatest accomplishment is when he married his wife of 57 years, Barbara Williams Gray.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Vivian L. Richardson.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife; a son, Shannon Gray of Pembroke; a brother, Oscar Gray and his wife Deborah of Elliston; a sister, Toby Gross of Franklin, VA; and a grandson, Ethan Gray.

There will be a graveside service held Friday, September 18, 2020 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Doug Duncan officiating in the Williams Cemetery, near his home in Pembroke, VA.
