James Edward Witt, 94, of Witt Road in Pearisburg, departed this life Sunday evening, September 14, 2008 at Riverview Nursing Home in Rich Creek. Born in Bluefield, WV on April 27, 1914 he was a son of the late Robert W. and Minnie Durham Witt. He was retired from Libby-Owens-Ford Glass Co. in Charleston, WV where he made his home for many years. He was a devoted Christian and member of Riverview Baptist Church in Ripplemead since December 15, 1981. He was preceded in death by his sisters Dorothy Witt, Alice Clark, Ruth Neal and Margaret West and his brothers Bill, Hubert, Charlie, Johnny, Howard and Robert Herndon Witt.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Narcie Nicewander Witt; his step-daughter Lucille Kensinger of Bland; his step-grandchildren Barry, Gary, Daryl, Barbara, Debbie, and Gerry Stifp; and his caregiver, James Carter.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with Pastor Shahn Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the services.
