Jill Samantha Martin

Jill Samantha Martin passed away April 7, 2026 in the care of East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro, Georgia from a severe illness. She was born September 3, 1975 in Lewis Gale Medical Center-Montgomery in Blacksburg, Virginia to Jimmy Wayne and Janis Harless Martin.

Jill is preceded in death by her grandparents, Carl P and Martha “Betsy” Martin and Carl P and Sylvia Lafon Harless.

Jill grew up in Pembroke, Virginia where she lived most of her life. She was a member of the graduating class of 1993 at Giles High School and was a student in Business at New River Community College. Jill practiced her faith in attendance and in her youth in the Clover Hollow Christian Church in Newport, Virginia.

Jill worked for Daniels Defense in Georgia as a senior buyer. She loved her job and all the wonderful people there. She also loved to read, and the time she would spend shopping with friends and family. In her spare time you could find her gaming on her computer, playing cornhole, and catching up or reviewing a Harry Potter movie or book or the next or previous Star Trek voyage. She loved to attend the Harless Christmas get togethers and tried to come home for them so she could see her aunts, uncles, and cousins. Yet with all of this, her greatest joy came from her daughter, Josey who was the joy and light of her life. She was a happy person and always texted her daughter, Mom, and Dad every morning to make sure she told them Good Morning and to tell them she loved them.

Jill leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Joselyn “Josey” Martin (Kameron) of Narrows, Virginia; her parents, Jimmy W and Janis Martin of Pembroke, Virginia; her brother, Johnny W. Martin of Check, Virginia; her boyfriend, Matt Zavattieri of Statesboro, Georgia; numerous aunts, uncles and friends; and special friends, Christina Cassetta Clark of South Carolina, Ashton Laurel Deloach of Georgia, and Sarah Cady of New York.

The family will receive friends at a time of visitation on Monday, April 13, 2026 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM in Kendall Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted for Jill on Monday, April 13, 2026 at 2:00 PM in Kendall Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Poff officiating.
