Johnnie Paul Jones, 89, of Pembroke departed this life Thursday September 28, 2006 at Riverview Nursing Home in Rich Creek. Born in Eggleston on October 2, 1916 he was a son of the late John and Arvella Baer Jones. Johnnie was a member of Pembroke First United Methodist Church and was retired from Virginia Lime Co. as a welder and heavy equipment operator. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ruth Lafon Jones; two sons David William Jones and Leon Jones; two grandchildren David Randolph Jones and Lisa Jones; four sisters Zella Williams, Madge Jones, Sadie Waugh, and Nellie Bailey; three brothers Fairfax, Riley, and Floyd Jones.

He leaves to cherish his memory three sons and daughters-in-law Kevin and Christy Jones of Pembroke, Randy and Sandy Jones of Centerville; Timothy Jones and April of Pembroke; three grandchildren April Jones, Noah Jones, Sarah Jones; and a sister Ada Jones of Baltimore.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday October 4, 2006 at 2:00 PM in Pembroke First United Methodist Church with his Pastor, The Rev. Bill Greer and Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 PM.
