Johnny Emmons Sexton, born December 16, 1949, in Giles County, Virginia, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. His life journey, spanning over 76 years, was marked by dedication, warmth, and a deep connection to both his work and the simple joys of life.

A committed professional, Johnny worked in production at Celanese, where his diligence and skill left a lasting impression on colleagues and peers. Beyond his career, he found profound pleasure in the great outdoors. Johnny was an avid fisherman and deer hunter, pastimes through which he embraced nature's tranquility and challenge. Additionally, he had a spirited enthusiasm for attending races, which provided moments of excitement and community throughout his life.

Johnny's family ties extended through multiple generations, reflecting a life enriched by love and relationships. He is lovingly remembered by his step-son Edwin Meredith and Edwin’s wife, Teresa. His step-grandson Tyler Meredith and Tyler’s wife, Brittany, also carry his memory forward, as do his step-great grandchild Connor Meredith and step great-great grandson Hayden Meredith. Though these precious family members remain in his life, Johnny was predeceased by those close to his heart: his parents, Andy Thomas Sexton and Lura Robertson Sexton; his wife, Linda Kast Sexton; his sisters, Ruth Smith and Bertha Patricia Lucas; and his brother, Andy T Sexton Jr.

Those who wish to honor Johnny’s memory and celebrate his life will have the opportunity to do so at a visitation and memorial service held on May 26, 2026. Both events will take place at Kendall Funeral Home, located at 605 Snidow St, Pembroke, VA 24136. The visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m., followed by the memorial service at 7:00 p.m. This gathering will provide a moment for friends and loved ones to reflect on Johnny’s enduring legacy and the joy he brought to many lives.
