Judith (Judi) T. McGuire, 76 of Newport, VA departed this life Tuesday evening, July 7, 2020 in her home. Born February 22, 1944, Judi was the daughter of the late Russell and Louise Huffman Thomas.

Judi spent her life practicing Nursing in hospital settings.

Judi is preceded in death by not only her parents, but also her husband, Daniel John McGuire.

Left to cherish her memory are a son, John McGuire and wife, Theresa of New Castle, Virginia, and their children, Joshua, Jacob, Amanda, and Jaycin Aguiar; a daughter, Courtney Scherer and husband, John of Eggleston,Virginia; a beloved brother, Arthur Russell Thomas Jr and nephew George Thomas of Maryland; a beloved brother-in-law Fred Broach of Pembroke,Virginia; and special friends the Loosely Woven Quilters of Newport and Jerolyn Deplazes. Jerolyn describes Judi as "always entertaining", a complimentary quality.

The family wishes to invite friends to celebrate the life of Judi in a picnic memorial tribute, Saturday. July 25, 2020 at 1:00 PM at 1758 Spruce Run Road Newport, VA. The family wishes to thank the communities of Spruce Run and Newport for always being good friends and neighbors. In lieu of flowers the family request that all memorials in Judi's honor be made to Newport Rescue Squad or Newport Volunteer Fire Department.
