Julian Anthony McCroskey, of Narrows, VA, a cherished brother, uncle, friend, and patriot, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2025, in Christiansburg, VA. Born on July 6, 1948, in Mountain City, Tennessee.

He is preceded in death by his biological parents, Noel and Edith McCroskey, his adopted parents, Ward and Lucy McCroskey; and his brother Michael McCroskey, Julian leaves behind to cherish his memory, his siblings: Felix Carpenter (Cindy) of WV, Leroy McCroskey (Connie) of Narrows, VA, Roger McCroskey (Betty) of Narrows, VA, and his sister Evelyn Gordon (Tommy) of Narrows, VA. His sister-in-law Margaret McCroskey of Tennessee, his many nieces and nephews, and his special friend Mark Pennington of Athens, WV.

A proud veteran, Julian served his country with distinction in the US Army, earning the National Defense Medal for Intelligence Assistance. His commitment to service continued into civilian life, where he dedicated many years to Radford Arsenal before retiring. Julian found a second calling as a caretaker at Mountain Lake Biological Station, where his compassion and care left an indelible mark on the community. Julian lived a private life, but had varied interests. An avid golfer, he spent many a day on the greens, perfecting his swing and enjoying friendships. His home was filled with joy and the pitter-patter of paws, thanks to his two beloved furbabies, who were a source of endless affection and companionship.
