Karen Melissa (Missy) Hale, 33, of Pembroke departed this life Tuesday morning, December 1, 2009 at Montgomery Regional Hospital in Blacksburg. Missy had fought a long and hard battle for over seventeen years with chronic renal failure and had always managed to bounce back. She was a graduate of Giles High School and had tried to further her education at New River Community College until her health would not permit .

She leaves to cherish her memory her parents Robert E. "Bobby", Jr. and Shirley Mabe Hale of Pembroke; her brother Robert E. "Robbie" Hale III of Pembroke; her sister and brother-in-law Angela Kay and James Collins of Pembroke; her paternal grandfather Robert Estil Hale, Sr. of Pembroke; her niece and nephew Harley Marie Brugh and Marshall Davidson Brugh of Pembroke.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with burial following in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg.
