Laura Alice "Nookie" Williams, 71, of Cascade Drive in Pembroke departed this life Monday, December 1, 2008 at New River Valley Medical Center in Radford. Born in Giles County on May 17, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Albert B. and Della Lee Hilton Radford. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Williams, a son Farin Williams, brothers Fitchell Radford and Bill Radford, sisters Shirley McGuire, Dersie Ratcliff, and Myrthie McGuire.

She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved companion and caregiver Joe Hines of the home; her son Ferlin Williams of Pembroke; her brothers Leonard Radford and Melvin L. "Pete" Radford both of Pembroke; her sister Betty R. Hutchison of Pembroke, and two grandchildren Weldon Williams and Candice Williams of Goldbond.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with burial following in the Williams Cemetery on Sinking Creek near Pembroke. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 PM.
