Deacon Leroy Shipmon, 81 of Christiansburg, VA departed this life July 3, 2021 in the care of Hertiage Hall Blacksburg, VA and his loving family to enter the gates of Heaven.  Born November 21, 1939 in North Carolina, he was the son of the late Felton and Lupearly Shipmon.

Leroy gave his life to service first for the US Army, then for the US Postal Service as a Supervisor.  Throughout the course of his life, he was faithful to his Lord.  He practiced his faith loyally as a Deacon at first Baptist Church in Fairmont, Maryland for over forty years.  For over 30 years of those years, he served as Chairman of the board.  He was most respected in his faith community for his gift of prayer and intersession.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and siblings.

Left to cherish his memory to their hearts are his wife and sweetheart of 57 years, Doris Shipmon; a son, Anthony Shipmon (Debra) of Blacksburg; Daughter, Ramona Caldwell (Rodney) of Lanham, Maryland; and a grandson, Dejuan Anderson of Massachusetts.

There will be a funeral service conducted at Kendall Funeral Home in Pembroke, VA on Friday, July 9, 2021 at 1:00 PM with Reverend Dan Parks officiating.  Services will conclude at Birchlawn Burial Park.  Family will receive friends in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM on Friday, July 9, 2021.  A guestbook is available by visiting www.kendallfuneralhome.com .  The staff of Kendall Funeral Home are honored to be serving the Shipmon family.
