With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Linda Jane Floyd, formerly of Peterstown, WV who departed this life on July 17, 2026, at Heritage Hall-Rich Creek in Virginia. Born on July 12, 1949, in McDowell County, West Virginia, Linda’s life was one marked by quiet strength, resilience, and enduring love for her family.

Linda was the cherished mother of Victoria Floyd Dunn, whose devotion was a source of great pride and happiness to her. Her legacy lives on through her beloved grandchildren, Christopher Southern, Keyan Dunn, and Hayley Hedrick, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Linda’s sister, Carol Cain, mourns her deeply, alongside her nieces and nephews, who remember her with affection.

In her journey through life, Linda also experienced profound loss. She was predeceased by her son, John B Floyd III; her grandson, Jeremy Dunn; her father, Charles Brown; her mother, Bertha Smallwood Brown; her brother, Charles Brown; and her sisters, Gerald Ratcliff and Peggy Heath. Linda’s love for her family remained steadfast despite these hardships, and she honored their memory through her care and compassion for those around her.

Throughout her years, Linda built a life anchored in dedication to her loved ones and enriched by close family bonds. Linda enjoyed the art of crafting at home, thus creating beauty and a unique therapy.  You could often find her gaining enrichment through the thrill and hope of playing the Lottery.  She found her peace and regained her balance while going on vacations to the beach.

There will be no services at this time for Ms. Floyd.  In hopes of a brighter tomorrow and to assist others through medical research as well as to provide education to healthcare providers of tomorrow, Mrs. Floyd's body was donated to Experience Anatomy Foundation.  Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.kendallfuneralhome.com.  The staff of Kendall Funeral Home are honored to serve the Floyd family during this time.
