Lucy Christine Bland, 88, of C T Snidow Road, Narrows, VA, departed this life peacefully early Thursday morning, June 10, 2010 at her home in the loving care of her family. Born in Sutherland, Tennessee on August 21, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Julius Edgar and Anna Jean Neely Hand. She had been employed as a library secretary at VPI&SU. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles Edward Bland, her sons Tommy Bland and Ronnie Bland, her brother Charles Hand, and her sister Betty Bradley.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Virginia Mae Stafford of Narrows; her son and daughter-in-law Michael David (Mickey) and Sue Bland of Pearisburg; her five grandchildren; her seven great-grandchildren; her brand new great-great-grandchild; her sisters Mary Ellen Whittaker of Princeton, WV, Faye Fox of Leesburg, Florida, and Madeline Bailey of New Mexico.

Following her wishes her cremated remains were entombed beside her husband in Birchlawn Abbey in Pearisburg with the prayers and love of family members present on June 14, 2010. Online condolences may be sent by visiting kendallfuneralhome.com.
