Makayla Lynne Wright, 18, of Rose Road, Newport, departed this life Thursday morning, November 12, 2015, at Pembroke from trauma sustained in a tragic fall from a cliff. She was born on April 20, 1997 in Blacksburg, was a 2015 graduate of Giles High School and Tech Center where she was active in the Spartan Cheerleading Squad, was a Certified Nursing Assistant and had been employed at Heritage Hall.

She leaves to cherish her memory her parents Wesley Allen and Vickie Lynn Lang Wright of Newport; her sister Mackenzie E. Wright of the home, her brothers Christopher Wright and Austin Wright of the home; her half-brother Matthew Wright of Narrows; her paternal grandmother Peggy Conley Wright of Clarksburg, WV; her maternal grandparents Ernie and Betty Lang of Pembroke.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at 2:00 pm in Riverview Baptist Church in Ripplemead with Pastors Shahn Wilburn and Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the church Monday evening from 5 until 8 pm.
