Maria Teresa Cooney, 82, of New Zion Road, Pembroke, VA departed this life at her home Sunday morning, March 11, 2018. Born in San Diego, CA on September 19, 1935, she was a daughter of the late John and Maria Regenstine Martins. She was a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church in Pearisburg, was retired from USF&G Insurance Co , and worked to support St Judes Childrens Hospital, and St Joseph's Indian School in SD. She delighted in the company of her cats and dogs. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Thomas Lowell Cooney.

She leaves to cherish her memory her son and caregiver Tim Cooney of Pembroke; her daughters and sons-in-law Liz Cooney and Ramsey Nally of Cartersville, GA, and Deena and Ronnie Feyerabend of Ball Ground, GA; her grandchildren Jake Ledbetter, Nicole Jackson (Jeff), Tiffany Thomas (Aaron), and Stephanie Moon (Robbie); her great-grandchildren Thomas James Ledbetter, Kaydee Jackson, Rhett Jackson, Wyatt Thomas, Wade Thomas, and Elliott Moon.
